1// Military Mondays will be starting this summer and I am looking for military spouses and bloggers to help co-host. It'll be a series talking about tips and advice for adjusting to military life and living on a military base. If you're interested feel free to leave a comment, tweet, or send an e-mail.

2// I was so excited last night to finally receive an e-mail after multiple attempts to try to find a copy of a Sophie Kinsella eBook to rent.  I was hunting down all of my library cards from everywhere that I've lived at and filling out book checkouts.  I really wanted to find a copy of The Wedding Night but was excited to see I've Got Your Number.  This is definitely something that I want to share on the great uses of a library.

3// In case you haven't already linked up, I am the host for this weeks Preview to Summer prompt and I gave our participants the option to choose between two challenges: Literary Soundtracks and Character Crushes.

4// I don't know about y'all, but I could sure go for a vacation.  Vegas sounds pretty good right now.

5// Ryan and I were roaming around on Saturday and stopped at Home Depot to pick gardening supplies when we saw this lil' guy.  We ended up purchasing our own little love fern cacti and named her Rosie.  Apparently this cacti is a "red-headed Irishman."

6// After checking out and scoring at a local library pre-sale, friends and I headed to a local park called Giant Springs.  The terraced rocks and mini waterfalls were pretty beautiful and it definitely put some emphasis on me to explore more of Montana.

7// Pictures for 7 and 9 kind of go together since this week I had four wisdom teeth removed and with little to no swelling, I put on some make-up and felt really good.  I haven't really had that opportunity to get "dolled up" in awhile and it felt nice.

8// With time to myself and time off work, I was able to paint my nails something a little wilder.  The star sparkles are from Wet n' Wild's Fergie collection.

9// Post-wisdom teeth removal, I was laying in bed and my beautiful Holly girl laid her body on me and next to me as she continually licked my hand.  She seemed so worried and I love my beautiful baby girl.

10// Everyone in the Instagram world should know about The Beautiful Mess app by now.  I think it is such a fun way to add little extras to your Instagram pictures and it's just a neat thing to try out.  If you haven't seen The Beautiful Mess blog, I highly recommend checking that out.

11// I don't know if y'all caught Erin's speech from The Elevate Conference, but I was inspired by a post on her blog, Living in Yellow.  Her post, The Speech: My Story, talked about how she started in blogging and what inspired her.  I was surprised to see The Gratitude Journal featured in the post. That was something that I had in my hands at Barnes and Noble and walked around the store for a couple hours and eventually put it back.  That's one of my tactics to resist impulse buying but it was also something that I really wanted.  After I saw the post, I went to Barnes and Noble and bought it.  I've been experiencing some lulls lately in my work life and I like to focus on the positives.  You can't let negative things bring you down.

12// Finally, this is an image from the commercial that I made for Ryan and my anniversary.  It's a complete surprise to him but I'm creating a romantic, honeymoon-esque dinner because we never had a honeymoon.  I made a resort and need to pick up decorations but I'm so excited about this.  I can't wait to share it with all of you soon :)

The BLOGSCARS: Your Guide to the Blogging Stars

I love award shows.  So it seemed incredibly fitting to me that some of my favorite bloggers get awarded for their efforts during the past year.  You see great content, beautiful photography, and a wonderful relationship they build with their readers.  Building a blog is a craft and there can be uplifting moments and pitfalls.  You may have seen my "blog obessions" posts in the past, but this month with inspiration from the Oscars, I present to you:

 photo blogscarslogo_zps560b6acd.jpg

It's an idea that I came up with to celebrate some of my favorite bloggers and the great posts that they have written. I have so many favorite blogs, so just like the Oscars, not everyone is represented in tomorrow's Blogscars. However, it is my first attempt at this and I want it to be as fabulous as ever.

Now it wouldn't be an awards show without some promotional material:

The categories, with their nominees are as listed:

 Popular Blog Link-Ups
Northern Belle Diaries
Sami's Shenanigans
Living in Yellow
I Wore Yoga Pants to Work

Best DIY Birthday
Little Baby Garvin
Craft, Interrupted
Pillow Thought

Best Mommy Moment
Pillow Thought
Vicki Christine
Crunchy Catholic Momma
Raechel Myers

Down-to-Earth Post
Spillerena
Mish Lovin' Life
Today, I'm Bobbi
Trial by Sapphire

As you're reading the nominees, I'm sure several posts are popping up in your head that aren't listed here.  I chose these bloggers and these posts for very specific reasons, many of which you will find out tomorrow.  Some of the bloggers you may know, others are just starting out or have "smaller" blogs and I really appreciate that diversity.  These writers have blogs that I frequent often and look forward to their posts.  You can see their whit, character, and true selves in their writing.  Many of them are also fan favorites.  I chose these four categories because I felt like they really encompass many of the blogs that you see out there.  I could have chosen "cutest pregnancy," "best outfits of the day," "most original instagram," however, I decided to keep it short and sweet.  There are a ton of bloggers with fantastic posts, and also a ton of bloggers with mediocre ones as well.  That's why I like to call attention to blogs and their specialties and what we can learn from them.  Thank you all of these bloggers and those reading for sharing your story with the public and readers who just love to blog.  Tomorrow I will post a video/content post on the BLOGSCARS and I hope you enjoy!

Thanks for Reading!

Blog Obsessions for January

Ladies and Gents, it's time to reveal some of my favorite blog picks for the month of January.

Sweetness Itself

Erin from Sweetness Itself is quite literally that, incredibly sweet and her blog posts are so filled with encouragement.  Admittedly, sometimes when I come across certain Christian blogs, I become hesitant in following them.  Now I don't want to turn this into a rant but I have a very distinct set of beliefs that include allowing people all available rights and I am also a follower of Christ.  Erin's blog doesn't shove anything down your throat.  In fact, it's a very personal journey and she has allowed everyone the privilege of viewing that.  I really loved her post on being single on Valentine's Day.  Every Valentine's Day, she prepares a letter for her future husband and prays for him.  All I've got to say is that her future partner will be one blessed person to have her.

Brooke from Tales of my Fairytales is hilarious, witty and loves big hair!  I found her blog off of Sami's Shenanigans and Brooke provides quick posts on various topics that are just cute and fun.  She reminds me of a ton of my sorority sisters and I also love her taste in music.  Her writing style sounds like you're talking to your best-friend and her stories will provide you with plenty of laughs.  If you like Sami's Shenanigans or I Wore Yoga Pants to Work, this is definitely a great option to check out.

Bonnie from The Life of Bon is downright hilarious.  She's a teacher to high school students, and I've got to say, I would have loved to have had her as a college professor.  She is funny and creates really fun programming for her students, including a banned book club.  What the what?! I know, scandalous, right?  and I love it  I definitely enjoy her blog posts and the type of content she puts up.  She also features really fun blogs as well.  Bonnie just started her own blogger book club and their first read will be Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.  I have it waiting on my shelf and Bobbi from Today, I'm Bobbi has been waiting for me to read this.  I fail, I'm sorry everyone.  But, at least now I have a deadline to get it done.  Back to Bonnie, she and her husband are super adorable.  Hands down one of my favorite favorite favorite (yes, three favorites) to follow.

Erin is already well known in the blogosphere but it's no surprise why.  She is a fun writer that always keeps up with the needs and wants of her readers.  She is super cute and creates fun link-ups.  She did a recent one titled, "if I were a boy" and I'm sure you've already seen a few link-ups to that post that are highly entertaining.  She's all around lifestyle blogger and covers food, drinks, books, and sass.  Love.her.

You may have seen Taralynn from Undressed Skeleton all over the Pinterest world and that's probably because she is a sensation.  Taralynn hosts a predominantly fitness and healthy lifestyle blog over on Tumblr.  Her recipes are meant to be an integral part of your lifestyle and she coaches you through posts on how to incorporate fitness and healthy eating into everyday living.  She's really an inspiration and her blog is definitely worth checking out.

Dan from Single Dad Laughing is an absolute riot.  I found his blog through a marriage post featured on Pinterest.  He actually has two on the topic of how he "blew" his marriage.  My husband even read the post.  Dan's commentary was thoughtful and genuine.  He was even able to make a few cracks at himself.  Actually, he was very honest about how he approached his marriage and what he could have done better.  He is definitely an entertaining writer and a dad who truly loves his son.  Dan has a couple of books out and I downloaded one of the copies onto my Kindle that I can't wait to read.

Now there are always and forever a ton of blogs that I love so dearly.  However, I chose to feature these ones for this month because they stood out to me.  I am always adding new blogs to my Google Reader feed and looking for posts and content that is worth sitting down with.

Thanks for reading!
