Liebster Award

Christin from Babies, Bosses, & Boyfriends, completely made my day by nominating me for the Liebster Award.  Time for a confession, I have been eyeing up this award ever since I started blogging and I consider it such a compliment that someone nominated me.  I love writing and blogging, and I continually try to upkeep the quality of my blog and its content.  With that being said, I'm sure I will now have continuous writer's block :/
The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.  What is a Liebster?  The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. I'm totally going to break the rules and just pick awesome bloggers :P

Here are the rules for receiving this award:
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
2. Answer the questions that the tagger set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged to answer.
3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
4. Go to their page and tell them.
5. No tag backs!

The Eleven People that Deserve this Kick-A Award:

I know, I'm doing this out of order, but I wanted to explain my selection of the other bloggers who deserve this award. Some of them have 300+ followers, some have under 50.  I think each has strong qualities about them that have great content.  Check them out, they're great and one day maybe they'll have 1000+ followers, who knows?

So my questions for all 11 blogs that I've tagged:
1. What was the most influential moment of your life?
2. If you could only have one, what vanity product is a must keep (i.e. blush, make-ups brushes, hair product, spandex :P)?
3. What is your favorite read and why?
4. What was your dream job as a little kid?
5. What is your favorite quality in a person?
6. Which of the blog posts that you've written is your favorite (post that link)? =]
7. What is your favorite quote?
8. Who is your celebrity crush?
9. If you could have dinner with anyone (alive, deceased, fictional), who would it be and why?
10. What is one thing you wish you were better at or wish you had that talent?
11. What is one goal that you have for your blog?

Christin's questions for me included:
1. What is your favorite color?
My favorite color really varies but I love the color gray.  Weird, I know, but apart from gray I love bright pinks and cerulean blue. It's a crayon folks, check yo Crayola box.
2. Have you made any lasting friendships since you began blogging?
I feel like I have.  At first, I felt a little silly because I feel like I've known many of these women for years and the fact of the matter is that we haven't met in person.  Living a military lifestyle, you're constantly moving and making friends so it's not much different from maintaining friendships through long distance.
3. How long have you been blogging?
About a year :)
4. If you could change one thing in this world what would it be?
Education and literacy levels- whoops that's two but let's face it, they go hand-in-hand.
5. What is your favorite meal to prepare/eat?
Mac and cheese with any type of meat, like cubed chicken or sausage blended in with bread crumbs on top.
6. What is your secret obsession? (I know we all have one!)
I feel like all of my obsessions are out in the open (i.e. bookaholic, craftaholic, blogaholic).
7.  What/Who inspired you to begin blogging?
Grace from "life in technicolor" was a huge inspiration for me.  I've never met her but I came across her blog on Pinterest and the way to conducts herself and represents herself is always so classy and fun.  It really encouraged me to seek out similar blogs and to start blogging more myself.  Ruthie from "The Chronicles of Ruthie Hart" was also a huge inspiration.
8. Do you have any babies or maybe furbabies?
Only a furbaby and another furbaby on the way!
9. What is your favorite time of the year?
Fall because I love sweaters and I'm no longer in school so I can't really enjoy summers (the woes of being an adult).  Fall weather is amazing and the outdoor colors are so beautiful. I love winter for Christmas but nasty, slushy, dirty snow is not my favorite- therefore, Fall wins.
10. Who is the most inspirational influence on your life?
My family, which includes my parents, brother, and of course, my husband.  Family is so important and they can piss you off but it keeps you all together.
11. What is your favorite childhood movie?
I would religiously watch "The Little Mermaid."  Emily from the "Freckled Fox" has the most beautiful, Ariel-esque hair and I'm totally jealous ;)

Finally, 11 things about myself...I think I'll just answer the questions I posed to those blogs that I've tagged =]
1. What was the most influential moment of your life?
Most likely commissioning as a military officer.  I was not a scholarship cadet with ROTC, so I was going through everything- the training, early mornings, military classes, extra things on the weekends- not sure if I would officially get to become a military officer.  When I commissioned, it was a huge accomplishment for me.  A lot of sacrifice was put into that program but it also made me a stronger person.  I think the only moment to top that will be when I graduate from my current program, because the program that I just finished was not easy for me at all.
2. If you could only have one, what vanity product is a must keep (i.e. blush, make-ups brushes, hair product, spandex :P)?
I created this question, but it's stumping me a little bit.  I keep going back and forth between foundation and mascara.  My eyelashes need the assistance of mascara, otherwise they don't really appear in pictures.  For formal shots and professional photos, I always wore fake eyelashes because in any picture, your eyes and lashes will pop. It just looks significantly better than having to darken them in photoshop.  However, foundation evens out your skin tone.  I would probably pick mascara and live on an island all day :)
3. What is your favorite read and why?
The Great Gatsby because of the conflict of emotions and desires, plus the awesome character development. I am extremely excited to see it in theaters.
4. What was your dream job as a little kid?
I was a competitive swimmer since I was 8-years old.  In the summers, we had outdoor morning practice.  So I would ride to practice, come back, and around that time TLC would be showing "A Baby Story."  I would watch it religiously and decided right then and there that I wanted to become an OB/GYN.  I'm not even joking.  I didn't graduate from med school or get my Bachelor's with a pre-med intent, however, I am still incredibly interested in becoming a doula and am looking at programs now.
5. What is your favorite quality in a person?
Integrity- I feel like the people who are honest about who they are and how they portray themselves are always the happiest and are the most fun to be around.
6. Which of the blog posts that you've written is your favorite (post that link)? =]
Can I cop out and say this one?  I kid, I kid, but seriously getting the Liebster Award was a great feeling and I am so greatful that Christin thought of me.  My favorite blog post that I've ever written are actually several.  I love the posts where I can be totally honest and upfront about how I feel about things.  I've talked about the lack of quality content on blogs but on other topics, I've talked about how unrealistic "The Bachelor" is and how detrimental that can be to young girls.
7. What is your favorite quote?
"though she be but little, she is fierce"- Shakespeare
8. Who is your celebrity crush?
Tom Hardy- he is swoon worthy
9. If you could have dinner with anyone (alive, deceased, fictional), who would it be and why?
Honestly, Jesus.  I would love to talk to him about his thoughts on political issues today, the things that society has deemed as important and what he would like to see more from society.  I can picture him in jeans and man-dals, just being such a cool guy.
10. What is one thing you wish you were better at or wish you had that talent?
I always wished my parents put me in gymnastics, especially since I have the build for it.  I dedicated 10 years to competitive swimming and I don't even do it anymore.  That or dance- I would love to be a dancer or at least in classically trained ballet.
11. What is one goal that you have for your blog?
I want to grow in readership, but I want the quality of the blog to remain the same or get better!  Some of my favorite blogs have taken a nose dive and I hate seeing that.  I'm always on the hunt for great blogs and am always down for suggestions :)

Thanks for Reading!
