What I Learned from Marriage

I Learned from Marriage:

After my husband's seven month deployment, I have become terrible at shaving my legs.  I continually forget and when my husband tries to romantically stroke my shin, he looks at me with horror and I just laugh menacingly.  Sorry about that babe.

That even in my sleep, I look out for myself.  Even if that means in a dream state, I steal all of the covers.

To kiss and hug and laugh often.  Kissing my husband is one of my most favorite things in this world.

Hints don't always work and if you want the bag, you're just going to have to buy it for yourself.

My husband will never quite understand my book addiction or why I can never have too many books.

I share my husband's love and affection with another woman, our German Shepherd, Holly.

I am still incredibly messy and Ryan is still incredibly organized.  Yep, that hasn't changed.

Ryan still thinks I have friends named Michael's, Joanne's, and Beverly's.  It's not until I say Hobby Lobby does he get that I'm referencing craft stores.

Sometimes Pinterest recipes fail and you're just going to have to go with Hamburger Helper.

To be married, you need a lot of patience, forgiveness and understanding.  Like when Ryan "organizes" and then "forgets" where he moved my things to.

I now know the sound of an Xbox turning on.  I also can identify the voiceovers/sound effects of Call of Duty, Battlefield, and anything with historical war fighting or zombies.

I have watched several more action flicks and tv shows than I ever intended to watch.

I go on more outdoor runs because my husband is a health aficionado.

That sometimes you need to gently encourage your adult husband to buy dress pants instead of wearing jeans, tees, and man-dals all day long. "honey, you are not a man-boy."

How to call dibs on not being the designated driver, although realistically, I don't really drink at all.

Link-up with me and share what
you've learned from your marriage!

  1. This is brilliant - very sweet and affectionate, and very real! Loved the non-shaved legs part especially!!

    1. Shaving is the worst. It takes extra time in the shower and if you forget and you're wearing a skirt/shorts, it become noticeable quite quickly. After awhile I just embraced it :P

      Thanks for reading!

    1. Ryan is all about fitness and living an active, healthy lifestyle. All of which I appreciate, even if it does annoy me on one too many occasions. I know he's looking out for me.

  3. Ha! I can identify with so many of these! I had to laugh at the hint dropping not working and the craft store visits. I'm always like, "I'm going to Joann's!" I have my link up scheduled for tomorrow so I'll come back and add it to your list. :)

  4. Sounds like you've learned a lot. After almost 27 years of marriage, I should have something great to add to your list, but I'm a bit blank at the moment. I guess it's because old age brings memory loss.
